Forthcoming Thirty One Recordings

Better not be talking about the Bungle one, dont need to be having any fallings out

Nope, talking about the Current Value one.. it's like he's trying to go for a really gritty sound but simultaneously his mixdown is so clean - make up your mind mate :teeth:

Never heard of him before, liking these tunes, especially 'Funk As You'

He's been around for a few years. Had a couple of releases on Random Movement's label Flight Pattern (which I do the artwork for) so that's how I know him.

He usually does Liquid so this is a step in a different direction: https://www.beatport.com/artist/joakuim/177974
Will check his stuff out, I don't tend to like a whole lot of 'liquid' so maybe that's why I didn't know of him, although now I remember he did an album at the start of the year https://sablenoirrecs.bandcamp.com/album/joakuim-des-fleurs-lp but I never checked it out.

That Joakuim single should have been pressed imo. It is not the first time that he steps out of liquid, and it is always pure bliss when he does so.

Case in point: Perc Sequences on Blendits

never post on here, but sometimes scotty's choice for what gets pressed is shocking. would pay double for this Joakuim 12'' easily.

"Rude Operator's dissonant intro on Witchdoctor synthesizes a half-time beat with jazz undertones before bouncing into a percussive bassline. Constantly evolving drum patterns, punctuated with horn bursts and upright bass from Ornette Hawkins, keep the dance floor moving.

Gunman's blissed-out atmospherics pave the way for a heavy combination of chopped up breakbeats and a juked-out drumline. Equally influenced by early jungle and contemporary footwork, 808 percussion and congas punctuate the undulating bassline.

Arrowhead fuses dubbed out elements with a running apache break and ominous synths. Percussive vocal stabs propel the song forward, while a deep, driving bassline and amen cuts bring the pressure.

War Diamond pays homage to DC's indigenous sound, Go-go. A hypnotic conga drum workout rinses oscillating bass with nature sounds, taking you above the canopy with a relentless swing. Lightly toasted by Born I Music, this fresh take on jungle delivers a heavy, tribal perspective."
