    Hey!

So this is my first finished drum and bass track, first mix and first master. I've looked to really combine elements of neurofunk, jazz and funk into it, and need as much criticism as possible really, whether its on the mix, writing or mastering

All the sound design was done by myself, and it was all written by me, i'm just looking to learn as much as possible to better myself as a producer in this genre (and outside).
If there's anything in the track you want to know about, please ask :)

Btw this track was written with the intention to have a female vocal hook, i just havn't managed to book the studio time to get it down yet

Heres the dropbox for the mastered and non mastered versions for anyone who's up to helping me out or just wants to here something new and fresh, cheers!

A lot of elements of this are really good. The bass is very nice(my reeces still aren't that good, and I've been producing close to a year now), the general vibes are good, the drums are good...
Some elements aren't so good. Your piano blues scale noodling needs a bit of work to keep it interesting and contrasting throughout, and some kind of main melodic theme in the piano would be good to give it a backbone(you could try and see what works with the vocal hook, once you've made that) Also, the piano doesn't come through enough, you should definitely try and compress it more to increase the loudness.
I would bring the bass in earlier too.
Has a lot of potential, I would keep working on it if you can be bothered...

P.S it's in the wrong section. Try 'New Talent and Track Reviews'

if you are using hits and no loops theres some good stuff in there like fills and stuff. I know you are doing jazz thing but there seemed to be a nasty note in there at one point. In general its good.
