How's it

I was reading around and came across something in another forum about exporting your tracks

My process goes Final mixdown -> export to wav -> master -> export to mp3.

The process I read about was Final mixdown -> export to wav -> master -> export to wav -> convert to mp3.

Is there a difference in quality loss or ??

I would do Mixdown > Wav/AIFF > Master > Wav/AIFF

then

Mixdown > Wav/AIFF > Master > MP3

That way you can get one of each directly from the Master Out. The engineers msmith222 and I have worked with always provide us with one of each rather than just a WAV that has been converted to MP3 via software. I can't say for certain why, but I would speculate that the mastering processes are slightly modified to compensate for the reduced dynamic range of a MP3 (compressed audio format) vs. WAV/AIFF (uncompressed).

Cheers.
