I've been wandering for long time if is it possible to side chain an eq, instead of a comp or Filterbank.
And as usual I always forget to ask to Google!

What I would like to do is to side chain the gain of certain freq band in a track, accordingly to the dynamics of another.
Same concept as comp, but with eq.

Now, as a user of Max for live, I'm pretty sure I can use the utilty of envelope follower by placing it on the track master envelope and target the max utility to control the gain of an eq on the track that I want to filter.
But, is out there a proper eq that support the side chain option?
If yes, which one?

are you talking about affecting only a range of freq ? i think you are talking about multi band sidechain.
A kind of.
In fact, the multiband comp on ableton, doesn't support sidechain.

But I'm actually looking to eq and cut, not to compress dynamics.

The new dcam compressor bundle has a unit that does this.
I'll check it out. Thanks.

Anyway, I've tryed the way I've said with Max for live envelope follower and it work perfectly with ableton eq.
Not perfectly working with third part plugs.
