i dont think people are gonna sponsor you for not drinking! why not give the money that you normally spend on booze a month to your chosen charity?

but really? not to take the piss, but if not drinking for a month is supposed to be a challenge then i think you need to have sit down and figure some things out.

so that isn't a reason not to sponsor though?

growing a tash isn't exactly a challenge for most of us on here, but yet everyone gets on that bandwagon and shit loads gets raised.

good luck borf, personally i'd find it pretty hard to stay sober for a month, but then i am a student so it's kinda the done thing to do to get unacceptably drunk at least once a week

Yeh, because growing a tache or walking 5km is hard...

Sorry if me doing something, even if it might not be the hardest thing, is attempting to get people to give money to charity.

Plus to some of us, that don't do any drugs at all, booze is all we have!

Tony, I've been donating money to Cancer Research since my grandfather died of cancer when I was 18.

Im not slating in any way at all mate, if people DO decide to donate then bonus…..i'm just saying I don’t think there'll be much. Good luck though, for a very good cause (I aslo give monthly to cancer research & Macmillan Care) after losing my Grandad 6 years ago and more recently my Father in law last June.

    I have £5 so far.

I think people in work will donate after we get paid (the 15th) as we lost a guy a few months ago to cancer.

I do get what you're saying though. it doesn't sound that hard, but I don't know mnay people at all that go a month without a drink.

Well I don't smoke weed or do any drugs these days. I work in quite a high stress job (you might one day get one of these, maybe) so yeh, the weekend usually consists of a few pints at least watching some football. I don't have a drinking problem in the slightest, but it's the only way I can "unwind" (especially since I've quit smoking ciggies for 3 months). With that and that fact most of my mates drink often, it will be a bit of a challenge, yes.

Good on you Borf. I did a month sober last year for no other reason than the sake of my liver and it was quite a challenge (particularly as it was Notting Hill Carnival) but I am sure you will manage it with a good cause.

I will definitely try sponsor you, but my money is all in Canada at the mo so not sure how that will work out. Keep this thread alive so I remember at a time when I can look into it
