    hi there ,

quick question are there good free / relitivly cheap (still need to afford food after) drum samplers im new to ableton and havent found a redrum equivelent with a step sequencer like redrum in reason or somthing swanky like battery from NI (but not 200 euros) and dont want a crack.

im currently just using the actual waveforms in the overview like one snare per track and then using effects on the track , but just want somthing that makes it easier to make hi hat patters

    thanks,

    Hamish

Probably best to use a drum rack. It doesn't have step sequencing, but it's similar enough and easy to program.

^ This. Ableton's drum racks can get really deep–as far as you want to take them. I've always found step sequencing to be a bit limiting (although extremely convenient), but that's just my humble opinion.

If you are looking for a dedicated drum plug, I'm currently working with Battery 4 and loving it.

    Cheers.

If you're just using waveforms in arrange view definitely look at Drum Racks as it's basically a rack of samplers (Simplers?) and you sequence your patterns with MIDI.
