Hi All,

Moving to reading soon, was wondering if anyone knows if there's much of a scene there with any regular nights on? Or anything nearby (oxford or swindon maybe?) or is it just worth going into london?

If there's any techno nights would be keen too.

Cheers

Yeah it looks a bit shit, though caversham where I am seems alright? Working in Wallingford though and don't really want to be out in the sticks..

Yeah London seems the best bet.. though it took me 2 hours to get home from Wapping on sunday morning a couple of weeks back :/

There was a really good scene in reading before I left for uni, unfortunately it petered out a bit due to venue closures amongst other things but theres still a few promoters around who are planning on getting the wheels back in motion next year.

Im DJing at a night at Zeus (used to be called mango as mentioned above) on the 27th, usually a good crowd there and its overall a nice venue (havent been there since the name change mind). Supporting Ed Rush, Jubei, Bladerunner and Annix.

Then Ram is coming up in February at Sub 89, not too fond of the venue myself but lineup looks alright!

Not too sure on techno nights but theres plenty of deep house about at the moment if your into that kinda thing.

Isn't that where Mistabishi got busted?

Yeah, Reading's dead. This night on Friday should be big though, Zeus tend to bump their drinks prices up for DNB nights i think (near on £8 for a double). Still though, Line-up's nuts...

I know it's already been said, but in terms of techno/house - you won't find much apart from the odd night at Sub89. Boddika will be ridiculous still.

Not sure if it was just a seasonal thing, but a friend of a friend ran some monthly events at Oxford O2 Academy, called Switch. Some big names went there n'all.

I should be going to Zeus this friday,

apart from that, got mainly jumpup nights run by Revolution in sub89 (although the next ones Andy C in February) and the occasional multigenre night in the uni run by Fusion

but yeah Londons half an hour away on the train so cant complain

i work in winnersh, would be good to know of a night to swing by after work, had a look and there has been fuck all this last year or so, saw andy c played a night there but that was about it.

Cheers for the info lads..

The night this friday looks big but can't attend this time round.

Out of interest, has anyone been to any free parties on the ridgeway between reading and oxford? Looks like they were quite big a few years but nothing much happening now? Used to be up in Norfolk so had some big ones up there..
