    How do you go about this? I can see four main options:

    a) switch over during a breakdown;
    b) slip a dnb record down to 33 during a breakdown (Subterra, Subwave and most stuff on Metalheadz can pass as dubstep if you slow it down) and then mix it in;
    c) use a dnb record with a dubstep breakdown;
    d) drop a dubstep remix into the original dnb tune by switching from one deck to the other on the first beat of a phrase.

    I've never listened closely enough to work out how other DJs do it. Your thoughts? Any audio examples would be extremely useful.

    I was under the assumption that dubstep was 90 beats per minute, and drum and bass being 180... Would it not be possible to mix them with the dub track just hitting on every other beat? Something that interest me, but have never spent the money on any dub to try it with.

    Dubstep is around 130 and dnb is around 175, hence why you can mix a dnb record on 33 into dubstep. I suppose you could play dubstep at 33 and mix it half-beat into dnb, but that would sound awful.

    yes how shit... well im not gonna bother buying any dub records... Didn't realise it was the same speed as house, I thought it was the same speed as hip-hop.

    C&S tend to just fade out the drums tune and then drop a dub tune

    According to Wikipedia:

    "Dubstep rhythms are usually syncopated, and often shuffled or incorporating triplets. The tempo is nearly always in the range of 138-142bpm."

    Which explains why I need dubstep on -4% and dnb on +4% (approx.) to make the 33/45 switch work. Doesn't sound great though.

    Do you have any audio examples? I've never actually listened to it being done properly.

    dubstep is 140bpm

    As for how I mix it, I normally use a tune with a dubstep breakdown to switch to dubstep then when going back to dnb I tend to use a track that I have a dubstep and dnb version of, i.e. Benga - Night & Benga - Night (Zinc Remix) and just drop the dnb version and switch over when it comes to dubstep versions breakdown

    There are alot of dnb tunes with dubstep speed intro & break downs so mixing the two together isnt difficult.

    Fresh - Chainsaw
    Dirtyphonics - Vandals
    Dirtyphonics - Quarks
    Axwell - I Found You (High Contrast Remix)
    FSOL - Papa Nu Guinea (High Contrast Remix)
    Two Fingers - That girl (Spor Remix)

    All have 130 - 140bpm sections in the tracks so you can easily use them to mix in and out of dubstep

    it's abit risky but depends on what hype the crowd is @ really, I know Chase & Status drop some of there bangers into sets and the crowd seem to enjoy them, But I suppose it's risky but i'd much rather stick to the Event genre tbh
