First off I don't. I only ever download mixes of forum folks, or tunes I get a free download with vinyl purchase. Non dnb I buy CDs still (this hasn't always been the case admittedly)

    anyway

most of these people seem like complete and utter morons. Is it just me who thinks they have really shitty attitudes towards musicians and the industry in general spouting such crap

    some reasonable views though

    Re: downloading music illegally.

I have to laugh at any thread like this...

I get it. Blates. A whole bunch of my close friends are currently signed d&b artists.

Ever watched a illegally downloaded movie?

    I get the irony.

    So do they.

Thread has been done to death and is a massive vicious circle.

    ^also this...

tbh if i ever got signed, who am i to get angry over someone downloading my music? at least they would be listening to it.

I've 'stole' the amen break in near enough every tune i've made. Haven't paid The Winstons for the right to use it though.

    Re: downloading music illegally.

Yeah it was probably pretty hypocritical of me to start this thread, but to be honest I don't give a shit.

I like music enough for me to want to pay for it, and I don't feel the same way about TV shows and films.

I also feel pretty dogmatic and wondered what everyone else though, not that I am going to change opinion

dibby: have you ever bought amen brother? If you have and have sampled it then that's fine because you haven't made any money off of it, you haven't infringed the copyright you paid for. If you haven't bought it then it's the same as downloading anything else illegally

    Re: downloading music illegally.

Na there is bare arguments against it saidway db...

    Scene is smaller etc etc.

    I'm just saying...

Even though alot of heads hate the situation.

The irony of general human nature/behaviour pretty much negates any genuine moral argument.

Unless you're gods gift to virtue and truth...

And lets be honest, on the whole, we at dnbforum...

    Are not.

    ;)

I'm of the same view. It's funny how it flips for different industries tho. A guy down my local works in the film industry and his view on the matter is the exact opposite. Pays for films, downloads music

    downloading music illegally.

The only new music I listen to really is dnb cos hip hop went crap for me and I either listen to mixes or chill out with a record on. I don't download much of anything tbh

    Or spaying.

Not sure copyright and dnb would work. It's not enough just to register a tune or whatever people do to 'copyright' them...it has to stand up in court as well. Not sure how you could copyright a tune with an amen or a tramen in it? Or a sampled bass line. Or a sampled anything really.

Also Hero it's called the right to copy. There's no mention of money changing hands.

    First off... *stolen (proper grammar)

Secondly, that sample is over 70 years old so the copyrights to it are available for anyone now (If I'm right?)
