Looks gash, plus hollywood can never convert a game story to the big screen successfully.

    NO!

They removed the satan element to make it PC. Thats the most important aspect of the game. The movie will be CRAP! That doesn't mean I'm not going to buy it when its released on DVD though.

while I really do hope this thing is better than I am figuring it to be since I loved the game, this movie from the previews and such looks like it'll be another one of those lame video-game knock-off movies. :-\

Im sure itll be a no-brainer - but with the same geeza who did the beasts from Alien & Aliens (HR Geiger I think) itll be visually pleasing.

Its Halo the game/movie cross over that gets my attention with Peter Jackson & Weta workshop involved - defo gonna be serious eye-candy. :boxing:

an @ Indi - Resident Evil & res evil 2 defo made the conversion sucessfully to the big screen - maaan I LOVE the games, an the films defo did it justice.

I agree that the Res Evil games were fantastic, I still play Res 2 today. The games are dark, nasty, lots of suspense and Romero camera angles. But I disagree about the films. They were utter, utter bollox in comparison to the games, proper hollywood action and special effects, no horror and suspense, which was what made the games so good in the first place.

Game crossover films are always shite, because hollywood can never take the winning elements of the games and convert them to the silverscreen.
Just take a look at the list:

Tomb Raider = Boring (apart from if you're jacking off to Lara :tosser: )
    Mortal Kombat = Gay
Street Fighter = What the fuck!?!
    Resident Evil 1 & 2 = Shite

The only good computer game based films were Street Fighter - The Animated Movie, and Tron from way back in the day :gslayer:

Ain't nothing better than watching Standing Tall with the Rock on a come-down... in the same way as there is nothing better than watching the first 15 mins of Commando before hitting the dancehalls.

I've got the feeling Doom will replace on of the above...

I liked Mortal Kombat 1, it was MUCH better than Street Fighter The Movie. The animated Street Fighter was awesome, and I really liked Resident Evil 1, number 2 fell a little short but wasn't a total disaster, after all, it had Mike Epps in it, he's comical genius!

Bring on the Doom movie :slayer: I can't believe people who slate films before they've even seen them, it doesn't make any sense.

Believe it sir! Heres another thought on the subject.

I once got so into that game that I felt like I was really there, in hell! The only game that came close to scaring the shit out of me that well was Resident Evil but the controls were so clunky that I rarely made it past the first Fulci zombie. So with the wack prespective and controls, I was taken away from the experience. Doom 3 on the other hand tricked me into thinking that it was real for a while! Mind you I was umm... drunk, and I had the lights in my room emulating the conditions in the game, but thats not the point.

The point is, Doom 3 is more then a game, its more then a movie; its a full on multimedia expereince, its the future! Movies wish they could do what Doom 3 has done. The fact that they've simply made a non interactive movie of an interactive movie (doom 3) is a total pisstake! Its like hollywood is saying: Yeah well thats the future but we live in the past (not the cool 1992 way) and we're going to shit all over what you've done by sticking your brand label on our crap!

    :mrpanic:

The only way to make Doom 3 better is to have a DMX dongle that transmits data to regular (dimmer pack) and fancy lights that could be in your room. Ohh, that and to have the coders write better code for video cards that cost less then 500.00 USD.

some bits of the film will be in first person.
if you download screensaver it has clips of the first person views.
i think this is a unrated film.
