Look at the bpm counters to assist you during a mix? I've heard many people say it's cheating or proper dj's dont need it blah blah blah.

Now i'm not saying i cannot beatmatch by ear because i can but, sometimes i can stuggle and other times i'm awesome. I've recently found that when i look at the bpm counters, I'm able to get my beats matched sooner enabling me to do other things.

I believe the bpm counters on cdj's or on controllers are there to be used so why not make the most of them?

As long as the crowed are loving what you are playing does it really matter how you dj?

I wouldn't say that's cheating, I mix vinyl so I don't have the luxury of looking at the BPM counters but when I mix on CDJ's I do tend to do it!

Obviously use your ears as well because the BPM counter is not always 100% right but don't see it as cheating personally

It depends on what you want to achieve.
If all you want to do is to put up good parties, then no.
If you want respect from your fellow men on forums everywhere, you should play strictly vinyl, triple drop every tune and beatmatch by breathing on the pitch fader through a straw :teeth:

It seems that is the only way doesent it!

At the end of the day, if you smash a banging set, get everyone moving and buzzing, theres no need to be an absolute vinyl wizard!
