Does anyone else install software the spend more time trying to configure it and set it up corectly than they actually spend using it?

Now my hard drive works, I've put MAME on it, and even tho MAME lets me play over 4000 arcade game from the original code, I just keep messing about with the images, artwork, flyers, arcade cabinets and control panel images, joystick configurations, hiscore savers, etc...:shades:

Yesterday I spent over an hour trying to get my PS control pad working properly, only to find out it wasn't working cos the prog. had recognised the mouse 1st as the main controller. Fool...

The older I get, the more I strip to essentials - time spent messing is time wasted. I've just about given up on the PC as a games machine and am about to buy a WII.

That's the beauty of MAME. old skool Outrun, SF2, RType etc from the original arcade code so any old PC can run it easy. I don't play modern PC games at all.

Wii looks ace and I want one. My GF's bro's got one, so that's what I'm doing over Chrissymas.

Yeah but you have to bugger with it! Nowadays I'm plug and play. Back in the day I wrote my own games on 16kb of RAM.
