DJ Wash is the founder of Kongkretebass, a Hong Kong based crew which has been promoting events, a website, as well as the biggest drum & bass podcast in the region since 2006.

In more than 7 years of DJing, DJ Wash has developed his skills on the turntables in numerous performances throughout Asia as well as on the international stage, playing sets along high-profile DJs such as Friction, Break, Shimon, Big Bud, Chris Su & Jade, to name a few.

DJ Wash convinces the crowds with dynamic sets, tight mixing skills and a refreshing spectrum of styles. Not a surprise, that since his arrival in Hong Kong 3 years ago, he has been headlining many of the city’s major Drum & Bass nights in addition to international guest performances in Thailand (Bangkok), China (Chengdu, Shanghai) & Germany (Dresden).

As an avid producer, DJ Wash continues to push his studio work with productions and remix projects of his own deep, dark, tech-style sounds.

His tracks are featured on Channel V’s opener for the “AMP” (Asia) show, and also on the album “Brant Rock” in a remix project for progressive/experimental band “100c” (Czech Republic), released in April 2008. More of DJ Wash’s music can be heard in some of the podcast episodes on Kongkast.

With a respectable history of events promotions and deejaying, DJ Wash has undoubtedly established himself as a prolific figure in the top of the Drum & Bass scene within S.E.Asia.

Extended Bio

The passion for Drum & Bass began for DJ Wash in the late 1990s when living in Sydney, Australia. He took to deejaying in the year 2000 with breaks, hip hop and later dnb and soon found himself playing alongside respected crews Airbourne/Momentum and in 2003 hosting Dj Friction and Breakage with is newly co-founded promotions crew Basics. DJ then started hosting his own Internet radio show for UK-based Drum and Bass website Planetdnb.com (2004-2006).

In late 2005, DJ Wash relocated back to his roots in cosmopolitan Hong Kong, and quickly connected with the small Drum & Bass scene there. He became resident DJ for a newly-founded local crew, supporting promotions, bookings and headlining for their liquid dnb nights at local clubs and bars (V13, Yumla, Lost, now defunct: Loft9, Bling & Ruums) until mid 2006.

The same year saw a change in the Drum and Bass scene in Hong Kong with the departure of DJ Wash from his initial crew. With fresh ideas and a professional outlook on the local scene, DJ Wash alongside partner Electronic Mistress joined forces for the own creation “Kongkretebass”.

Since then Kongkretebass has played an integral part in the Drum and Bass scene in Hong Kong and Asia. A name which is pushing the limits and boundaries in every angle possible; with website, events promotions of international/regional/local artists, as well as a weekly podcast (Kongkast).

The recent coverage of KONGKAST on BBC Radio 1’s Drum and Bass show with Fabio – as ‘Podcast of the week’ (05/2008) and also in Knowledge Magazine as ‘Podcast of the month’ (Issue#102, 09/2008), has elevated Kongkretebass into the international stages.
