Following the fabulous Midlands Legends Summer Special event, The Source returns with another unique line-up featuring two more special guests (specially chosen for DJ-X’s birthday) from the heady days of the early 90’s dance scene.
DJ Trace
This groundbreaking producer began his career in 1991 with the release of his ‘Inception’ EP on Orbital Records but it was in 1993 when he really came to the attention of DJ’s and ravers alike with a string of classic releases on the seminal Lucky Spin and DeeJay Recordings labels. With tracks like ‘Lost Entity’, ‘Never Felt This Way’ and ‘Don Bad Man’ (with Ed Rush), he was soon being mentioned alongside emerging producers like LTJ Bukem for pioneering the new “intelligent” jungle sound. This led to a string of releases and remixes of such classics as ‘Babylon’ and his legendary remix of T-Power’s ‘Mutant Jazz’ which is widely recognized as being one of the first examples of the Techstep style of DnB. Trace then went on to champion this dark, futuristic sound with releases on No U-Turn, Emotif, Prototype and Virus collaborating with artists such as Optical, Ed Rush and Bad Company (on the awesome ‘Nitrous’ and ‘Flashback’). In 1999, Trace setup his DSCI4 label which still releases cutting edge DnB to this day which makes him the ideal guest to help celebrate X’s birthday.
Fallout
Fallout began DJing in the early 90’s at the legendary Fibre Optic parties alongside Tango & Ratty and soon established herself as the No.1 female DJ in the Midlands. A regular guest at raves such as Pandemonium, Quest, Fantazia and many others, she soon branched out into producing with a string of classic EP’s with Tango such as ‘Further Intrigue’ and ‘Positive Chaos’ as well as collaborations with Essence of Aura and solo releases on local labels such as Rough Tone Recordings and Bitch Records. Still widely regarded as the Queen of Hardcore, The Source is proud to welcome this Midlands legend back to Birmingham.
Add to this sets by Source residents Glenn Aston, Gershwin and the birthday boy himself DJ-X and you got the recipe for one fantastic party.
Those of you that have attended the previous Source events with Frank De Wulf, DJ Sy, 2 Bad Mice, Trevor Fung, Nookie, Tango & Ratty, Doc Scott and many others will know what to expect – great music, great people, quality sound and lighting and above all, one fantastic vibe just like the old days!
