Wow! Thanks so much for the kind words sir. I tried to keep it a little broad and add in some lesser knowns. We all know the anthems need to be there because they're what defined the era but those lesser knowns just break it up and add a personal touch if you know what I mean?

Thanks again.

quality mix. banger after banger

almost too epic to handle, had to listen in 3 instalments lol. will keep this on the hard drive for a full rinseout at some point

Had a listen to this whilst at work and the track selection is great. It really didn't feel like a 3hr mix, every tune was on point and it all flowed really nice, good job!

Hahah. Thank you sir. When the missus goes out for the day I just get my head in the zone and it usually ends up 2-3 hours. I've done a few 5 hours before. Always feel you can represent a lot more and take your time with the flow.

Thank you also sir!

Really nice to hear the positive feedback on this one. Glad people are enjoying. I think up next will be 1999 then I'll work back from 1996 to hopefully 1991.

I was just reading the thread on the current state of dnb and people saying there were no anthems, too much mediocrity, etc. Like you, i much prefer the stuff from 93 - 99 which still stands the test of time. My thinking is that back then, it was soo much harder to make the tunes compared to nowadays, as with the now freely available technology it allows anyone in their bedroom to be an artist. The cost implications for making and getting your tune to the dancefloor are also worlds apart from then and now.

If you are having to get dubs cut and then if the feedback is positive, popping down to music house to pay for X amount of vinyl to be pressed, you have to be sure your tune is going a) sell b) be as good as you can possibly make it. Compare the process now of releasing a tune in digital format and there is no comparison and very little risk, from a financial and time perspective.

Quality always beats quantity!

There are so many different sub genres of dnb today which all have to be supplied with a constant stream of new records/artists, which leads to a pollution of the market, IMO.

Another difference back in the 90's, was the number of producers who kind of stayed in the background and were happy for other DJ's to play their records. That is unheard of now.

Thesis over!!

I agree with all of the above :)

Yes Simm gave this a whirl last night. Much selection. (y)

Really need to get back on recording mixes. This definitely gave me a kick up the ass to have a dig about the records tonight.
