Right, as none of you actually know me, I reckon you're the best people to ask about my DJ name. Things to consider:

    1. I look geeky and wear glasses. I'm not in any way 'fashionable' and hate brands such as 'Bench' etc.
    2. I'm a very passive person. Fairly confident, but in an introverted way. I'm very much my own person, and have wildly eclectic tastes in almost everything. For instance, my CD collection includes Korn, Prince, Roots Manuva, The Smiths... you get the idea.
    3. I have an extremely dry sense of humour, that can sometimes border on insulting.
    4. I love dub/reggae-inspired dnb, but have a very small vinyl collection. You can look up djspex on Discogs for my wish list and collection.
    5. My real name is Sion.

Basically, I have been called DJ Spex for the last few years because it was put on a poster and I haven't been able to think of anything better. So it's kinda stuck.

The only alternative that anybody has been able to come up with is 'Sion of the Decks' (as in Shaun of the Dead).

In some ways I like DJ Spex, but I don't like the image that it suggests. Although I look geeky, there are so many different elements to my personality that I can't really be pigeon-holed. I've been called a geek, raver, stoner, goth, you name it. People who don't know me may make assumptions based on the name DJ Spex and my appearance.

So what do you reckon? I need a permanent name now I'm playing vinyl!

    DJ SION > DJ SPEX

Or even better, why not just use your full name?

Sion is pretty interesting so i'd take it your last name is pretty cool too.

Its the way to go ,

Andy C , Tiesto, Mampi swift (jk, but still there is no "DJ" prefix infront), Armin Van Buuren,

    Spex is allright i suppose.....

I rekon you should go with something that involved your real name....

So are you named after Sion in switzerland??

    anyway..... heres some suggestions...

    Sion Breaks

Sion Priory or Sion Prior (in reference to the Priory Of Sion.... a secret society)

it all depends on what sort of stuff you play though.... you cant really have a name like "Sion Death Squad" if you play liquid..... hahaha....

Nah, Sion is just the Welsh spelling of Sean/Shaun. Not very interesting over here, unfortunately! I get called 'sci-on' by English people who haven't met me.

I suppose something like Rocksteady might work, in a vague reference to the Turtles bad guy (Bebop and Rocksteady) and also being a form of reggae. Actually, Splinter sounds fucking nice.

Yeh, Sion is just run of the mill here.

    Where you from?

Something like DJ Nois or just Nois? Because it's Sion backwards lol. That's as creative as I get on a monday :)

haha, that's more than most people speak.

Usually it's: Rydw i yn hoffi (either coffi, hufen ia or pel droed)

I've never heard that in my life, and I'm a fluent welsh speaker. A qualified welsh translator in fact!

I've heard Pisyn as in Piece, but never as in attractive. probably just a dialect, the Gogs use bare words I've never heard.

It's used as slang, so 'piece' would probably be the Welsh equivalent of 'fit'.
