there are some tracks in this set that would have been really nice to have. I don't understand why most of these tracks have never been released.

Yeah, why's this guy getting such big praise? The songs are good, but the mixing is sloppy as hell.

You've been listening to drum and bass for what, two, three years maybe?

Lemme guess, you're an Andy C groupie.

Maybe you'd appreciate this set if you'd been listening for six or seven more years. Shit, maybe you'd even know who Bailey is.

IT'S BAILEY PLAYING UNRELEASED VIRUS DUBS, ASSHOLES!!!!!!!
:D

I still hold Bailey in fairly high regard in terms of his track selections (I <3 the styles he busts out on his radio shows and in mixes), but his mixing isn't the best I've heard.

Either he's permanently drunk (if so then fair play ;)) or he needs to hone his skills a little more, man's had enough time to do it considering he's been around for such a long time on the scene... But ah well, we let it slide cause his track selections are always utter messiness.

Could have some bad hearing as well, but i agree fully. Wicked selector, sub-par beat matcher. At least he knows he's not all that sharp, doesn't try any double drops or anything like that that end up a disaster. That shit REALLY bugs me.

I love this Gruwelijk business.

Andy C has tinnitus and he does ok ;D I think it's more a case of laziness ;) He gets all the freshest stuff cause he DJs out on the radio anyway, so it's mutually beneficial - so long as he keeps on playing the good stuff I'll enjoy listening to him, and the longer he's on the radio the more he'll get the dubs. ;) Works for me :D

It's permanent damage to the tiny hairs (the cilia) inside your inner ear that convert soundwaves into electrical impulses that can be sent to your brain for conversion and interpretation. It's caused by overexposure to excessive noise levels. If you get a kinda "singing", hissing-type ringing in your ears after listening to anything loud for more than a few minutes, that's damage to your ears. Sometimes, for a while after the ringing goes away, your hearing can sound muffled or padded, like you're hearing stuff through a pair of closed-cup DJ headphones - again, that's because the cilia can't respond as well to the sounds reaching your ears, as they're still recovering from the damage. They can't recover indefinitely though, and eventually you WILL lose (to an extent) the ability to perceive quieter sounds, or higher frequencies.

If you prolong your exposure (over a long period of time, months and years) to loud music, or continue to listen to very loud things / expose your ears to very loud noise levels for a long time, this damage can become increasingly worse, and eventually become permanent if you're not careful. That's why builders and people working in airports (for example) all wear huge ear defenders.

Tinnitus is a horrible thing to have, it's always there, from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep. It can detrimentally harm your sense of balance (you rely on your ears for balance, so obviously if they're damaged, there's going to be knock-on effects). It can be REALLY distracting, it's like having a really high-pitched frequency just whistling in your ear 24/7 without ever stopping. You learn to live with it I guess, but you can never get rid of it once you have it.

That is why Andy C now wears custom-moulded earplugs whenever he DJs (in fact when I last saw him DJ, on the Valve system at Brunel Rooms in Swindon back in... March?) when he walked into the room I saw him wince and immediately reach for his earplugs.

Wise man. I was wearing mine at the time too (I want to still be able to appreciate those high frequencies when I'm 30 :))

As they say, :shit_happ . You only get one chance with your ears.
