Abstract is widely considered to be one of the most influential players in the United States drum and bass scene - from throwing the seminal Bay Area weekly "Energi" to DJing with Phunckateck Communications to starting his label Pneuma Recordings, Alex has dedicated all his spare energy and time into helping to forge what is now one of the nation's strongest scenes in San Francisco. Over the nine years of his career, Alex has become famous for his seamless mixing, impeccable track selection, and his ability to move any crowd (an ability that has brought him dj inquiries from all over the United States and as far away as Ireland, Denmark, Costa Rica, Ukraine, Sweden, Puerto Rico, and Russia), but these days he's also known as one of the US's most well-respected producers. He has an impressive discography including releases on Subtitles, New Identity, Breakbeat Science, Rawkus, Moonshine, Pneuma and many many more, including upcoming releases on Formation, among others. Fans of his tracks include DJ SS, Blame, Goldie, Fabio and more, and he has collaborated with noted artists such as TeeBee, Calibre, and UFO!. Due to his talent as both producer and DJ, Abstract has been featured in URB's "Top 100", BBC Radio 1xtra, the German magazine DeBug, the US' premier D&B magazine Tha Pride, Muzik magazine (record of the month), and XLR8R magazine, as well as a slew of web site/online and offline radio features - not to mention Phunckateck interviews too numerous to list. Pneuma has grown into one of the most respected American Drum and Bass labels around and continues to release quality material from the Phunckateck camp. In addition to his well-established career as one of the top names in the US Drum and Bass scene, Abstract has been making noise in the 2step, Breakbeat, Techouse, and Broken Beat scenes as of late, with releases on numerous labels including DJ Deekline's Rat Records, Vehicle, OM/Colourforms, Verde, Sub Funk, Non Stop, Pallette, Marc 4 Hero's Twisted Funk imprint, and many more. His travels in these genres have brought him to Seattle, LA, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Finland, Sweden, London and beyond...
