Distortion!?

Anyone know some nice vst's for creating some distortion?
And does anyone have any tips what is the best way to use it on basslines?

tube vst, sounds sick or amplitube but that seems to turn all basslines into a guitar sounding distortion, you'll realise wen an if u get it. safe

If u using logic then the Standard Logic Distortion is good for beats and bass also good to use Overdrive and also PSP Vintage Warmer

predatOHM is my recommendation

Split your bass into 2 parts (high grit and low rumble) and use heavy distortion on the highend and just slightly on the low. And ofcourse do the same melody on them both. Sounds quite much better than just slapping simple distortion on a bass sound.
