These are the first of 5 vinyl-only samplers from the new 'Shadow & Lightning' LP by DisasZt. Tune descriptions and audio below:

‘Move’ featuring Kos & Tenchu is seriously impressive, gradually building towards an apocalyptic drop that demonstrates an engineering finesse of which the mighty Noisia would be proud. A head-lurching, face-contorting stomp of a track, ‘Move’ leaves you unable to do anything but that. Think millennial Ed Rush & Optical with a modern day twist and you’re half-way there.

‘Transference’ with Chris SU slowly plots its way towards dancefloor oblivion with a gentle techno-inspired riff reminiscent of Konflict or Usual Suspects at their late-90s best, before switching into one of the filthiest, most twisted drops you’ll hear. Clever edits and use of filters provide ‘Transference’ with a sense of persistent progression, playing the face-screwing dirt of the drop off against the delicacy of the lead riff to forge the sort of groove-driven D&B track that’s rare in these ear-bleeding times.

‘Terror War’ sees DisasZt link up with fellow Austrians Kos & Tenchu for one of the most original dancefloor slayers you will hear all year. Tightly LFO’d synth bass subsides into a relentless drop, pushed on by a frenetic ride-led rhythm, complete with amen fills and a nasty, stuttering bassline.

One of DisasZt’s solo productions, ‘Rebound’, gets a re-working from the little-known Egoshoota on the flip, with breathtaking results. A less aggressive groove than ‘Terror War’ but no less energetic, ‘Rebound’ is yet another slice of pure quality from Mainframe, fusing sci-fi soundscapes, distorted vocal samples and twisted bass licks over an irresistible groove.
