Just for you guys. What do you think?

All kidding aside, not really feelin' the mix - really boring selection, plays too many tracks out, and very loose on the mixing. This guy still plays almost exclusively tech-step - I'd think it was a mix from '99 if I hadn't recognized a couple of tracks.

Hey man, in case you didn't notice from listening to the intro, he is playing tunes that are all U.S. Artists. Every tune on there is either remixed or originally made by U.S. artists. He wasn't trying to represent all of the freshest dubplates he had in his crate, he was making a statement. He was trying to show some stuff going on with his hometown scene that he helped shape and is currently still a part of. As far as this mix goes, it was done very well. His composition, mixing, teasing, and use of effects was all on point man. Maybe you don't like tech-step, that's cool. But don't be ignorant and try to say 'I'd think it was a mix from '99 if I hadn't recognised a couple of tracks' and 'very loose on the mixing' just to seem cool. I think a lot of people will agree with me when I say that it doesn't matter how old the tunes are on a mix, if it's done properly according to the dj's intention then it's a good mix regardless. Dieselboy never tried to break DNB out of the underground, nor is he trying to.

And as far as that picture.....
John B wears more make-up than that because he chooses to not just because someone else dolled him up for a cover shot. But I don't see you saying shit like 'No rockstar dj's please' about him. You shouldn't have a double standard.

All I said was:

1) I didn't like the mixing;
2) I didn't like the selection;
3) I think it is boring to play all tech-step, which is pretty much all he plays.

I said '99 because most tunes were tech-step at that point. I never mentioned dubplates, USA, Jon B, or trying to be 'cool' on the Internet.

Maybe you should relax and let a man have a justified opinion...

tru, but i still think that dieselboy is one of the best american deejay's.

I just like it dark and rough :twitchy: :rinsed:

He plays dark and rough for sure. Just does not justify hype IMHO.

I'd vote for Hive - saw him in Cincinnati, and he really had the crowd mesmerized. Very heavy.

Got this CD off the cover of DJ mag a couple of month's ago. It's fucking dark man, damn good first impression's of Dieselboy, never heard of him mix before that CD. It was the soundtrack to my journey up to Godskitchen this year!

However I must admit the tune selection may be a little biased towards the more industrial side of d'n'b it did introduce me to some new name's to look out for. It almost certainly taught me not to underestimate the darkness coming from the states, i'm checking every U.S. artist's tunes after that CD now!!!
