Decent DNB Cd's

Hey,

Was wondering if anyone could help me, i'm new to DNB, i resently bought Pendulums album and have the past couple of drum n base arena cd's. Could anyone point me in the rite direction and advise on other good cd's out there i can buy.

the Liquid V album mixed by Bryan Gee, Welcome to Violence (when the cd comes out..), any of Concord Dawn's cd's.. any of those are good
 
Buy a used set off Ebay.

Cheapest way to buy a load of cds from somebody in the know...

I once got 69CDs for 70 quid - some quality mixes and some quality albums.

Oh and the Ultimate Drum & Bass album on amazon.co.uk gets you 60 tunes for 10 quid (!). Unmixed and excellent. Gets you quickly up to speed on D&B classics.

Same with the Essential Drum & Bass collections - but the tunes are a lot older (Mr Kirk's Nightmare etc...)

Jungle Massive is a pretty cool old skool mix. Same with Best of Jungle Massive.

The Ministry Back to the Old Skool set has some fine tunes from yonder years - better than D&B Arena IMO.

Outpatients and other compilations from Hospital have great newer tunes and nice prices.

EZ-Rollers Lickable Beats - nice new tunes.

Shf Fx just put out out a compilation - don't remember its name - basically unmixed (some syncing), pretty good.

Apart from that, these guys have put out some good cds:
High Contrast - nu-skool beautiful anthemns
Roni Size - the older tracks are ground-breaking and beautiful
Photek - minimalist production master
Nu:Tone - beaut. anthemns
Technical Itch - dark side floor smashers
Dom & Roland - more moody dark side
Aphrodite - music to get pissed to

An extremely short list and there are loads more to look for but its a beginning.
 
Any of the Grooverider mixes for Renegade Hardware, like Essential Rewinds or The Harder They Come, a bit dated but good cd's nonetheless. And the 21st Century DNB triple cd on Industry is pretty good too
 
Well its matter of what kind of DNB u like. I advice u to don't buy things ppl saying here because its theyr own opinion. Listen the tracks on net and try to find artists that suits u.

21st Century is excellent - the Essential Rewindz... hmm... okay I guess.

Hope he doesn't end up being a trance n bass fan.

If you read what I wrote carefully you'd see it was a very wide selection of dnb. If he's just getting into dnb, then he should have a listen to all the styles. Maybe he'll end up listening to everything (like me - well, apart from trance n bass).

As far as listening to tracks on the net is concerned, if you mean mixes then they're mostly constructed from vinyl = - difficult to get on CD and don't really give an idea of album content. If you mean pirated, then... that's crap.
 
There's also a good mix by ShyFX called Old Skool Jungle (I think its on Relentless) that includes most of the pivotal tracks from back in the day, good for a history lesson in jungle

Well in last few months we released only few good trance'n'bass tracks (like ben sage - all about you VIP / nothing inside) so i am more into liquid (check mixes thread to find my mix.) And i do listen to everything good (except jump up and raggajungle). But finding more good liquids than some harder stuff.

And pirated? Well you can listen to samples on webs like juno & Chemical Records. I am listening to pirate mp3s because as DJ i buy plates. In that case i need to hear full song and than decide if i would buy or not.

Do you mean Jungle Rewind?

Three cds with old skool old skool tracks merging into each other through the wonder of computer technology - can't be called mixed though - you could even play the tracks off a cd player at a gig, he.

Good quality tracks though - definitely worth getting
