dark/techy bass

could anyone tell me how to like make a dark techy bass?
am i right in thinking, you pretty much make a Reese (or bass of your choice) then automate it. resample it, automate, resample, automate, resample, etc etc

when I see dark and techy I just can think of Cooh and Counterstrike

thats pretty much how you do it

Get loads of saw waves, detune them and all, then create an lfo doing a low pass and make loads of them. add chorus, distortion yadda yadda and resample. Add more effects, maybe in audicity, and then resample and duplicate and then reverse one of the duplicates polarity's and detune it, then do it again the other way (if detuned down, do up)
