As i only just got into it can anyone give me a few names of some producers - preferably some stuff that wasn't made in the past month!
Also may aswell make this thread more universal, what's ur view on dark dnb?

As others have said, it really depends on what your classification of 'dark' is.

Tensor's list is fairly downbeat and minimalist - ish for the most part, where Jwood covers some techier stuff (as he mentioned).

There's a wide spectrum of stuff out there, would help if you gave maybe a few from the lists a listen and told us what sort of stuff you were after?

    This!

My idea of proper dark DnB is:

    Current Value
    Lucio De Rimanez
    Donny
    Forbidden Society
    The Panacea
    Dylan
    Counterstrike
    SPL
    Gancher and Ruin
DJ Hidden and Eye D (The Outside Agency)
    Nanotek
    Peter Kurten
    Antichristus
    Machinecode
    Proket
    Pyro
    Proton Kid
    Of God
    Limewax
    Freqax
    Empire X
    Black Sun Empire
    Zardonic
    Switch Technique

Most of these names will be fairly unknown to the wider DnB community.

I agree that I wouldn't call them dark, but the original poster said about shogun, which isn't dark, but lynx, zero t & commix are all similar style to the overall shogun sound

scatcat, think your going to have to give some examples of what you mean by dark

To be fair, alot of those artists Tensor mentioned don't exactly release happy tunes. Jubei & Ulterior Motive in particular release some dark as hell stuff, its just not that heavy.

I would classify most of these producers as having made some 'dark' tunes and a very good place to start with before moving onto the techier stuff like phace, misanthrop, the upbeats etc

Yeah I was really just going off the fact that he mentioned shogun. All of those artists have a sound that can relate to the shogun style in some way. Like people have said, the definition of "dark" drum and bass is ridiculously broad and theres no official naming scheme for this sort of stuff. I'd say the list I posted is much more similar to shogun style stuff than limewax/current value etc which is normally called dark dnb :)
