The last two full length installments on Kasra's Critical imprint have been received to a raptuous reception from the music press and fans alike. All Sounds Electric Vol 2 was called "painfully classy" by IDJ magazine, while Mixmag labelled it "mouthwatering". Strong words - superlatives that I tend to withold for a steak dinner at The Ritz.

Volume 2's precursor was given five star ratings across the board, from such respected publications as iDJ, Knowledge, ATM and Mixmag. So we can see quite a tall order being sketched out for the forthcoming project.

Switch to this year and iDJ named Critical the label of 2009, ATM calling out Kasra as "one of the most talented A&R men in the industry"; meanwhile, Knowledge went so far to make the grandious statement: "Carlsberg don’t make drum and bass labels, but if they did – Kasra would tell them to stop - Critical has it covered". Woof.

The third installment is called 'Critical Sound - The Album', set for release in October 2009. So after lots of chat, what does the album hold? Here is what the Critical camp have to say about it all:

To usher the Autumn in Critical Music are proud to announce the forthcoming release of their latest album project. Following on from the huge All Sounds Electric Series we bring a new concept. 8 tracks from the hottest producers in drum and bass right now housed in a deluxe gatefold package and a double cd, again in deluxe packaging featuring the 8 tracks from the vinyl on one disc and 11 brand new tracks on the second disc.

In another top twist the first 1000 copies of the vinyl will include the CD set thrown in, so if you are one of the new breed of digital DJ who still likes to support vinyl or if you want to get yourself a big treat.

Each track on this album encapsulates all that is great and good about underground drum and bass: from the blissful beat workout of Breaks "People Are Different" to the blistering tech infused funk of Spectrasouls "Wedgehead". A storming selection of the cream of today's scene.

The CD package combines the vinyl tracks with a whole extra disc of fresh material.
Dubstep champ Ramadanman comes with his own brand of stripped down dnb, Russian new kid Enei brings the future flavour and we are privy to the first ever solo production from label boss Kasra with his own track perception.
This is the Critical Sound...
