Cringe-worthy sample/preset names...

Amazing thread topic!

I tend to name my samples in a pretty boring manner: ex. x_Snare_y where "x" describes the snare (ex. layered, big, tiny, etc.) and y equals the key.

Synth patch names on the other hand...well:

This_bass_impregnated_your_mum
BS_Turbo_slut_bass
PERC_Beatin_Cheeks
LD_Two_girls_One_Lead
BS_Racist_Bassist
ARP_80s_Coke_Binge
SUB_This_Sub_Made_Me_Poop_Myself
LD_Fuck_Yo_Lead_and_Yo_Couch_Charlie_Murphy
LD_Squeal_Like_a_Pig
PD_Maxi_Pad

Hahaha! these are more how i name my tracks lol Some of them are gold! :2thumbs:

normally a rough description like 'dirty reese' followed in brackets by key, sound source and sometimes tempo.
e.g dirty reese (fm8, F)

Same as Fletch. . . . . I never named shit that sounded like other artists. I never focused that much on any one particular artist. except Audio. . . .Headroom is the only track i really picked apart and put under a microscope. Sweet simplicity.

Dysrupt snare 1
Dysrupt Snare 2
bla blah blah

Except basses. . . . . my bass sounds usually are named the first thing that comes to mind

I have a
"Cactus reese" obviously very sharp
"rubber band" obviously pitch shifted and filtered to shit. ( but not very dirty)
"Lizard bass" for no apparent reason lol
"sludge bass" you get the idea.

Yeah same here, except I literally write what it 'sounds' like. "Bwoop" and "berpwerpwerpwerp" for example.

I think it's a little easier to remember which is which like that though if they all have weird names. Like I remember samples from the first Emperor & Centra pack better because they have names like 'Meatpants' and 'Techytech' instead of 'EACBASS61_C#'. I guess it don't look so profesh though.

I usually name a sound after the song i first make it in, so I always have a reference for it. I do have a few oddly named bits though.

RIM RIMMA
and RIM OF ALL RIMS

Also have a channel strip setting called REESE MAKER which turns large unison-sawtooth noises in to dirty growls to layer back in to themselves. But mostly I'm really boring things are called impstr_[song name]_sqr_staccato or some shorthand that I thought I'd remember at the time and now have no idea what it means.

shit.wav
good.wav
good1.wav
wub.wav
good2.wav

Need to take some logic in this naming thing. The "subfocusbreak.wav / noisiabass.wav" is also very familiar to me
