Looks like my boyfriends house might burn down tonight. theres a raging bushfire and very strong winds in his neighbourhood. 40 houses have already burnt down. He was told to evacuate a few hours ago but his dad refused to leave. now he's driving back to check on his dad but the police are arresting people who try to enter the area cos its too dangerous.

gona be a LONNNNNNGGGGG night :(

i dont know whats up with the weather at the moment. our country has had it tough. floods, cyclones and bushfires.

yeah man, thats the one. he lives in kelmscott/roleystone. thanks for that link.

he tried to get through the roadblocks last night but couldnt. then he tried to sneak through the bush down a little track that leads to his house but it was on fire. he said the whole area was covered in burning embers. (which is dangerous cos the strong winds ignite them) he came back and crashed at my place... he still hasnt heard from his dad yet.

you'd probably have to pay a bit extra for bushfire cover. you'd be silly not to if you live close to the bush. im pretty sure that would cover temporary rent costs and rebuilding. when they were told to evacuate he had to decide what to take with him. i think all he grabbed was his laptop! imagine how devastating it would be to lose everything.

I watched the news last night...

    Fucking bonkers!

Worst part is, they did a little section on the whole insurance scenario out there & loads of people arer set to lose alot because of this whole "act of god" clause in the majprity of insurance policies...

    Fucking wankers man!

Anyway, hope all is ok Gumbo!

the wind has died down and things are improving. Mark snuck through the road blocks and found his dad. the house didnt get burnt thank goodness but they are without power because the lines are down.

65 houses have been lost. 35 damaged. thankfully no one was killed.

and yeah moskit. the insurance companies are bastards. they are refusing to pay out to some of the flooding victims because the 'flood cover' they thought they had was only for burst pipes etc, apparently a rising river isnt a flood

There has to be loopholes in this "act of god" bullshit...

    Its a pisstake.

I'd be round certain high profile insurance brokers houses cauing my own "acts of god".
