So, personally i havent ever done it.. because im not into production or photoshop or anything.. and its naughty and bad..

but hypothetically speaking here, if you got a torrent for photoshop or pro-tools.. if the 'cracker' is a wizz enough on the computer to rewrite the software, create patches and cracks and keygens.. then also.. wouldnt it be possible to leave time delayed trojans in it.. or hidden spyware, or even re-write it with hidden keyloggers and allsorts.. because i fail to see what the people cracking these programs get.. and also.. im not bothered bout the legalitys, im a badman yasee..

id just like a discussion on whether its potentially stupidly dangerous.. as i do know alot of people that do it with vsts and music production stuff etc.. i know this sites against it etc.. but i just wanna discuss blah blah dont delete fred

Is this one of those threads where you start to feel guilty after a few minutes and then delete it?

no, youre right, youre 100% right, do you know what the price is of installing pirate software?
what even a keygen does to your privacy?
    free software is a myth
piracy is piracy from so many more angles than just copyright,
    thats your privacy youre trading
which is why i dont use pirate software. its fun for a bit, but once you on your `18th system crash knowing full well its that pirate software and streaming media you start to reconsider.

yeah.. and it does work, it would, wouldn't it.. but just because it works and there is no virus found.. it doesnt mean the clever twat who cracked it and created the patches, didnt hide a keylogger in there or other serious spyware that you cant scan for...does anyone use photoshop here and paid the full subscription ?

no one ask for cracked software in here.. itll be end fred :(

Most uploaders do it for the Internet fame, first person to crack it, most seeders, top of pirate bay, stuff like that. Just like the Russians on here seem to be obsessed with having the highest bit rate rip of a mix. E-peen.

sure some cracked software has nasty surprises, but you can be sure the most popular ones are completely fine and have been scanned to hell and back by someone even nerdier than the cracker.

yep. it's like saying that your dealer cut your drugs with glass, sure they could do it, but why would they want to? it's bad for business.

This. Although, I haven't pirated my stuff in years; the last crashes I had were actual glitches in the clean program (a couple of iZotope plugs on OS X 10.6.8) that actually would crash a DAW if loaded up, but even worse is that if I turned my computer off I would get a darwin kernel panic when I went to boot-up and I wouldn't even be able to backup the drive, just have to wipe and re-install the OS; this is a super bitch when you've swapped your mac's disk drive for another HD and have to physically remove it and re-install the drive itself and then re-install the OS. Needless to say I don't really fux with iZotope anymore (although I do really dig Iris).

Sure, there's a chance it's infected, but to be honest you got to read reviews before you download.

And if someone wants to infect you that much there's far easier ways of doing it than decompiling software, cracking it, recompiling, and then having your bandwidth raped seeding it.

I have no problem downloading software to be honest. Although it depends what software. If the software costs 20 quid I'll buy it, but if it's like £800 and I physically cannot purchase it, then why not? If I wouldn't buy it anyway, and I'm not making money from using it I see no reason why not.

The only time developers of expensive software really care is when companies use pirated software. If there's 20 graphic designers in an office all using pirated photoshop, and making a mint from it, then yeah, that's wrong.

Since maybe 2000 i dont think ive paid for one bit of software or movies. Ive not once had a problem with tojans or virus's. The problem comes if your stupid enough to not realise what is a potential virus infested download. Also... a simple virus scan usually sorts everything out anyway.... end of the day... most software your downloading is probably a few months old at least right?? So.... by that time anti-virus programs would have been made aware of the virus's/Trojans already... and therefore have a way to get rid. Just dont download freshly new programs... ie... that could contain fresh new tojans/viruses.
