Hi there,
I'm new at the whole deejaying stuff, i've bought my self some Numark TT-1625 + a Numark DM1050 mixer. And i now have to learn the beatmixing in order of getting any use of the turntables.

I can't figure out how to count beats, does anybody have any techniques or tips for this?

Use this as an example, theres a double beat every 8 bars, amen on the 16th.

learn your tunes in and out and you will know what point of the tune you need to be bringing it in. keep concentrating on the hats as that will keep u in time. but the best advice i can give is to learn the tunes you are mixing

you can generally tell when its either 16 or 32 bars, as their will be a variation in something, like killing the bass of or something similar.

Yer, the hats as mentioned is what you need to be counting (or at least aware of their pace) when there is no kick drum. Sounds daft but it will be like 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4.... fairly quickly. You just need to get the other tune going 1,2,3,4 at the corresponding point and at the same pace. Hope this makes sense.
