that's sick man!! I think you should put a de-esser on the vocals and a snare before the drop on that 4th beat when the toms stop

i've edited the vocals slightly and re-uploaded it.

but tried having a snare and other percussive elements after the toms before it drops, but nothing worked so went with the quick silence to add impact.

I really hate that first snare sound, man.. Synth in the intro sounds a bit fisher price. The bass gets kind of lost in the mix, way quieter than the synth in the intro, makes the energy level fall a few notches at the drop which is a shame.

fair enough mate. i won't be changing the synth, its the style of into i was going for. will try a different snare tho.

what speakers are you using? i had the bass higher in the original mix but it was too loud on my KRK's and also when i mixed it on a big system.

I've got a pair of Fostex monitors, they're old, but seem to do the trick.

that's cool man. i appreciate it.

on further listening i do plan to lower the volume of the synth in the intro and the vocals to give the drop more impact. i just don't think the bass after it drops can be louder without interfering with the mix.
