Connecting speakers to Sub???

So, I have a 2.1 speaker system, which means that i have 2 plain speakers and 1 subwoofer.
There are 4 holes in subwoofer, which are:

L+ L-
R+ R-

And i have 2 wires which bifurcate and they begin from speakers.
Both wires are black but one have grey stripes on it.

Hope you guys understand.

i think from your description, the main speakers plug into L+-
and R+-, sounds like the other wires go to the amp? most 2.1 systems have an amp built into the sub though, is there a plug-in? take pictures and post if you can.
