Been a while since I gave the ol' computer a bit of loving...and since I gave it an upgrade too. BOOSH!

    Anyway, here's my current...

    4GB RAM
Radeon x1550 (I don't game, it's just to take some of the slack off.)
AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core
    Windows 7 Ultimate

Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. M2N Rev 1.xx
    Bus Clock: 200 megahertz

And what's gonna be my best bet to bring the power up on a budget?

I have an i3 desktop machine (internet usage) which performs SRC faster than my dual XEON (single core) server DAW !

That is bonkers, massive performance increases.

    I'd recommend Gigabyte mother boards.

The AMD Phenow II 1100T Black edition 6 core would be a cherry on that machine man... and not to pricey. so as long as your motherboard supports it you're good to go

A few months ago I upgraded my system and built a new PC from the ground up. I did a write-up on my site about the whole process. You might find some good info there about choosing components: Building A Custom Audio Workstation
