computer got raped..

my computer got eaten by a virus yesterday and i've had to wipe the disc completely and start a fresh.

few questions i want answering really...

1. can "cool edit pro 2.1" be copied to a dvd the transfered to my nu cpu.?

2. are there any other free antiviruses that match up to avg?

1. Probably not, programs like that store lots of keys in the registry so a fresh install is best.

2. I use NOD32 which is wicked, takes hardly any memory/cpu and has caught every dodgy file i've downloaded. Don't think its free but you can get the free trial.

get something like SpyBot search & destroy as well, run it every week or so, sometimes picks up stuff avg sometimes doesn't.

Avast for AV. Or torrent Kaspersky Internet security with 6month keys
