OK... got everything sorted.. my percussion is sounding freakin nice, my shuffles and hats are all grooving and working together real nice.

so why are my kick and snare sounding like a flabby baby hitting the floor?

they sound dead and un punchy.

driving me mad! I've compressed. surgically EQed them but they both sound shocking! :(

help me someone. please.

Lol yeah, circle's right...use a better/different sample
I'm no pro at this but u could also find a couple kicks..one for the low end n one for the high.
Send em to their own channel, compress n eq.

Well i had the same problem (trying to EQ, compres), seems it was just my differents samples of snare who were bad :D

Hi all :)
Sometimes when my kick drum is good but it sounds bad (not enought powerfull etc) I layer it with nice 909 kick drum + I compress whole drum channel with treshold about -15/ ratio all the way up (its infinity i guess) + output about +3/ sometimes change release and attack but mostly not :) and as paraplastic say use sidechain :)!
Hope this works for you too :)
