the US government are trying to pass a bill that will make streaming video's with copyrighted material a felony, so if we where in the US, watching your favourite TV shows, listening to your favourite music, or watching gameplay tutorials on platforms like youtube could land you with a jail sentence. Worse, simply linking to said video's can land you with a hefty fine starting at $2500.

So say young Jimmy decides to make a short film, he uses a brief snippet of his favourite song, young jimmy is gonna end up in his local prison being buttraped by big jonny.

    this is fucking ridiculous.

true, they'll enforce it to an extent, but the fact that they're willing to do is just isn't right, and it wouldn't be long before UK follows suit.

    America, land of the free...right?

Net Tax is already under discussion, except it will hit internet providers and website owners, they will be expected to pay a premium to ISP's and the Government, so that they can have access to full speed connections, if they dont pay, users will only get a slow connection to the site

Enforcement of the new laws in the US would be focused on providers rather end users, although that said, the US is notorious for wasting huge amounts of money to fight lost causes and criminalize its population, ya never know

That's not cencorship, it's illegal to download pirated films because people have put money into making them, so why would streaming said film now be labelled as cencorship? Little Jimmy shouldn't be using other people's material IMO

it's against the law to distribute pirated material for profit as far as i'm aware, but to be at risk of a prison sentence purely for say watching some gameplay online is ridiculous. IMO it should be up to the copyright holders whtether or not they decide to press charges. Games companies don't give a fuck about gameplay video's or tutorials as people aren't getting the game for free, they're just watching other people play, where's the crime in that?
