Can anyone recommend some decent chilled non dnb albums to get on CD?

Im after something quite chilled.. And really vocal not necsersarily dance music or hip hop…Im after something with a real decent voice in it…music to chill with your missus to… and not indy!...im so sick of fukiin Snowpatrol its unreal! Haha.

I was thinking about getting the new Amy Winehouse album but im not sure im a huge fan of her 'rehab' tune, is the brest of the album like that?…. Ive really got into motown and old 60's sould recently so a modern version of that but without being too gay rnb'ish.. I fukin hate d'angelo and shit like that…90's-present US' rnb is rubbish!

Ive had my head so far up dnb'sarse that ive missed out on whats gwanin outside….

Whats that guys name that did that tune with Die recently… Ben Wetsbeech… does he have much out????

Also I heard an artist called Frou Frou.. Which is kina trip hop soul.. With a slow break behind it.. Ive only heard one tune off the Garden State soundtrack… anyone know much about them / her / it….dunno whether its solo or a group...

    Any ideas?

    Cheers!

i think i pretty much picked up a few names from this thread, im checking frou frou.

my recommendation is get satyricons new album. not really what you were after and i guess you wouldnt actually chill with the missus (or indi for that matter) to it either. less shes weird.

for a good voice though, yukimmy nagano (vocalist working with koop, hird, swell session) is the shit, specially the stuff she did with hird, have a look at that, tell me what you think.

The rest of the album ain't like that (that's the most commercial track by miles), and is very much motown & old 60's soul sound! Well recommedend for chilling with Missus's (not that I'd know anymore, ha! & I can't listen to it anymore despite lovin it cos it our break up music).

I'd always recommend the Ninja Tune label compilations if you ain't got em, Xen etc. Lots of variety and excellent trx across trip hop, chilled breaks, leftfield hiphop & electronica... Ace for finding interesting new people you may not have heard before & Quite cheap nowadays too!

Oh yeah! Nouvelle Vague, a French band with a girl singer doing covers in a jingly down tempo (but not lounge) style.

I think the album's called Nouvelle Vague too. V.nice, easy to listen too, with lots of hidden depth & quirks.

Wendy Carlos "Sonic Seasonings" is the best chilled CD I've heard in my life. You can put track 1 on loop, listen to it all day and not get bored!!!

    Also

Tears for Fears "Songs from the big chair" is a great album. Some nice chilled vibes on there.
