So who knows anything about car sound syetems? i have absolutely no idea what to buy and will end up buying a load of shit worth about 15quid for 100 if i go about it myself!!!

Budget of about 150-200.. Cheaper the better of course.

Would rather want a more crisp sound that an ultimate bassmobile!

    Nice one

Take your pick from there ^ offers on atm.

All you'd need is mp3 connectivity and you're pretty much sorted.

Speakers though, that's a kettle of fish that i'm not accustomed to.

Would just a simple 6x9 package sort me out well enough? Until i can add a sub to it at a later date that is.. Looking at this as i really don't want to spend loads! http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/jbl-gt5-6x9-pack.html probably better than spending the same amount of money but getting a sub aswell as it will all be worse right?

If you want pure quality and don't mind doing a little bit of DIY then I'd go for some amped 2-way components in the front, you will have to mount the tweeters on the dash somewhere and run wiring through into the doors but it will be well worth it for the extra clarity. If you can't be arsed with that then yeah that package looks alright for the money. You want to get a Pioneer/Alpine head unit as sound quality on standard headunits is surprisingly gash.

I had tunes with bass I didnt even know existed until I got a proper car system sorted out! (and then promptly sold the car and had to take it all out lol).

dont just focus on the low end, so many idiots drive around with standard speakers and a sub. get a nice system. it will give you nice depth and a richer sound than just 45-90 hz
and you will still have bootspace, trust i have seen loads of mates get subs, then they grow up. and realise they have no room in the car and that there car is falling apart, cos of all the vibration.

may just hijack this thread too :D

Iv got the same thoughts as Mango, Iv got some Vibe 6x9s and didnt want a sub too, would be bass overkill. Got an Alpine amp for £25 and now all I need is a good door speaker/tweeter package

head units are important, i just put a pioneer in mine and the quality increased dramatically, with basic volvo speakers :teeth:

bear in mind that if you have a modern car you may not want to do all the wiring yourself if it has an aircon system, as there is a lot more to fuck up.
go around to local audio places and speak to the people there..

People who dont run subs because they're worried about too much bass - there is no such thing as too much bass if your running amped component speakers/6x9s, get yourself a 1000w RMS sub & amp combo and you will never look back trust me!

I can see what youre saying in you response, however I feel there is such a thing as too much bass, you cant apreiceate the rest of the track.

Well i do want a nice amount of bass, but i don't want it overpowering like most people do with there sounds! Probably going to go for that 6x9 package then get this headunit: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/kenwood-kdc-3047g.html as i can't really afford to spend much more money, and blag my brother up to give me a massive discount on his subs he's selling as they are bad boy!!!

    6 x 9 = NO!!!!

a pair of decent components up front and a sub in the back will provide you with a much crisper, cleaner sound. 6x9's are shit!
