Could be the parcel shelf, you should build a new one from wood, will be solid & shouldn't vibrate if installed correctly.

e30 zimmers don't have a parcel shelf do they? hatchback innit?

anyway, tell him to get some sound deadening (brown bread is the best) and coat the entire boot inside and lid with that, it'll sound 10x tighter and limit the vibes..

To be fair tho, you don't get bass without vibes, the vibes are the bass, so he's gonna have to put up with it to a certain extent...

aye, the numberplate has been sorted that was one of the first problems we had (its a project that him and me are both working on :p..i help with his audio, he lets me rag his bm.) weve got some bass tubes and we're gunna put them through the parcel shelf or ski-hatch so that there is a direct link to the rest of the car...the parcel shelf has been redesigned anyway so i don't think its that thats vibrating, tis def the boot, considering using that stuff that F1 cars use..bleh cant remember the name..

Rear wiper is usually the cause of vibrations, or anything else attached to the tailgate (locks etc). My mate had to remove his spare wheel because that was vibrating...
