Im looking into buying some technics second hand, one is a 1200 one is a 1210. Its a good price but there pretty old, will they still stay arlight for a while? also one of the pitch faders is pretty fucked, is it expensive to change it? also is it easy to replace it myself bare in mind i know little about electronics

Thanks
Lewis

stay alright? dude they are technics. they'll be just fine. they dont make electronics like this anymore.

not sure how you know the pitch is "pretty fucked" if you know little about them but a replacement fader will cost anywehere between £20-£60 (ish) not too difficult to change, plenty of vids on how to do it. if your not confident doing it there are places that will, but with added cost.

They are the Nokia 3210 of turntables. They'll last forever if you look after them. Go for it man

Well they just feel really dodgy! But iv decided to go for them, going to pick them up later today! Cant wait!

this will show you how to test if the pitch is ok http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLtlELevKdk

also as these are ur first. i strongly recomend learning how to set them up and calibrate them correctly. you need to do this everytime you move them. it will prolong the life of your stylus and records tenfold.

Took me months to sort my fucking tonearms height out. Height hadnt been changed since they were made. Had almost 20 years worth of crap seizing it up so i couldnt move the height at all. Killed 2 birds with 1 stone and sorted it when i cracked the 1210's open to change the LED's. Makes a drastic difference when playing wax.

Just got them early today!

Yeah im having problems adjusting the tone arm aswel, its really stiff and the lowest down it can go the tone arms still sloping?
Then on the other turnable it just wont move!

Also with the Pitch Fader, the one i thought was fucked, the collaboration is fine but it feels sticky, like as if something was spilt in there. What would be the best way to clean it?

Recomend cracking them open and removing the whole tone arm assembly and spraying some wd40 into the height adjust grooves. Let it sit for half an hour then try and unscrew the height adjust. Worked a treat for me.

Sweet, ill give this a go later on!
Could the same be done for the pitch fader?

might sound daft but there is a lock on the tonearm adjust. make sure its unlocked first.
