Alix Perez is undoubtedly one of the strongest young producers and dj's in the drum and bass scene today. He started djing aged 14, his forays into production coming soon after and instantly finding results. Claiming strong influence from the likes of Calibre and D Bridge, Perez tunes show a masterful understanding of musical structure and key, using the most simple of chord structures to stir up massive emotion. His 2009 album 1984 has well and truly cemented the young producer as one of the most exciting players in the scene, its mix of floaty chords, minimal techy beats and more experimental tracks making huge waves with fans and critics alike. Also released on Shogun has more recently been the 'Dark Days' ep which contains high profile collaborations with Noisia and Foreign Beggars.
Having emerged from relative obscurity in 2006, SpectraSoul, have clearly become one of the new-school pioneers on the drum and bass circuit. 2008 saw the release of their much-anticipated underground anthem “Alibi”, which tore up dance-floors worldwide. Alongside this, 2008 also marked the release of SpectraSoul’s “Penninsula” and “The Tube”, both featured on the Shogun Audio imprint. Various releases throughout 09 including 'Mimic' and 'Melodies' showed a continuation of the style and substance to be found in their work. This year we have seen the massive colab between Spectrasoul and D Bridge, 'Glimpse' which has been doing the rounds up and down the country. The boys are currently working towards their first album for Shogun.
Shogun's newest signing. Had a massive hit with 'cascade' in 2010 and have since seen the bookings starting to pour in. They have proved through countless Brighton gigs their ability to move the crowd and this night will be no exception. Big things looming for these boys, watch out.
