Who were your top 5 to 10 breakthrough producers of 2008?

Brookes Brothers - Not much to say about them. They've been smashing it for a couple years now, but just seem to get stronger with every release.

DC Breaks - Had two of my favourite 12's of the year, Romper / Mankind on Viper and Taken / Come Closer on Ram. Expect major things from them in the future.

Metrik - Definitely took his sound to the next level. Technicolour was definitely one of my top tunes of the year. Look out for some big tunes on the new Viper album in '09. Pure

NC-17 - These guys are quietly getting signed to every label out there with tunes out/forthcoming on Mac II, Frequency, Viper, DSCI4, and Sudden Def, amongst others. Along with support from the likes of Andy C, Ed Rush & Optical, and Futurebound, they are a force to be reckoned with in '09 for dark techy Virus-style sounds. :slayer:

Telemetrik - My Lightyear LP was f'n class. Nothing else to say. Brilliant, brilliant album

Icicle - Don't need to tell DOA anything about him. Big year from him on Shogun, Ram, etc.

InsideInfo - He invented "fun-tech". A true pioneer :teeth: But seriously some class tunes from him in '08 with huge releases on Viper, Breed, and Critical. "Skyhook" was deffo a top 10 tune of the year for me.

Dirtyphonics - Really made a breakthrough with their crazy live setup and the release of "French Fuck". Got big backing from Shimon on AudioPorn Records and will be on a big EP coming out in the new year. Expect big things.

would agree with inside info and icicle.
always got time for inside info, i love his sound. it's proper grizzly.
and i don't really think anyone else is doing bass better than icicle right now.

other than that.

spectrasoul.
kings of the liquid dancefloor sound. pretty much flawless all year, the quality control is so high. only bigger and better things from them next year.

survival.
been about for a couple of years, but his tunes have taking a seriay turn and he's knocking out some killer beats. portal / the begining is still one of my favourite releases of the year. would actually like to see him and spectrasoul hook up.

and the likes of agent alvin and dj wire. not a lot of releases, but definatly see them giving sub focus et al a run for their money in the near future. nice catchy hooks and solid prodction. definatly keeping an ear out for them in the future.

Lenzman - Just warming up in 2008, 2009 will be big

Instra:Mental - These guys are finally making a mark

Zyon Base - Irish DnB, Need i say more ?

S.P.Y - If you havent heard them you will !

shit, yeah. proxima and nympho too, sure sure.

mekar. if you haven't, check icicle - spartan / hang on. one of the biggest 12" of the year. and the stuff he did on city of light ep was pure danger.

as i said up there, don't think anyone's doing bass as well as him right now. dude's only 23 or something too. all the shogun lot are too young for their own good.

icicle still isn't doing it for me yet & i wouldn't put my vote towards his direction. . . yet. . .

Icicle is the man at the moment, i was not feeling him till around 6 months ago i didnt really even take a fancy to Franky mountain but his sound just suddenly grabs u after a while ICESTEP all the way!!!! the colabs between m
him/Proxima/Nympho have churned out some of the tunes of the year for me!

Really feeling Nympho - Cybernetic disorder at the moment
