    What is there purpose?

Dont know if anyone has noticed but there was two bots banned??

Pretty good bots if you ask me.... had legible intros and replys to threads etc... but next to no advetising??

baffles me.... why would someone set up a bot that had next to no advetising....??

What do they use these types of bots for??

Is it just to clam up the forums??

And where do you get these bot programs from??

    hahaha!

yeh i know... was pretty amazed at the bot programming to be fair....

kinda got me thinking.... if they could be programmed todo automated things.... ie.... bump a certain thread every 2 weeks or to post updates on up coming events etc...

that would massivly help with promotion... and its the sort of thing a bot would be usefull for.... without pissing everyone off........

I never get a chance to get on DOA or DNBA.... so a bot for them sites would be perfect..... can post on there without ever having to speak to any of the wankers....

so... does anyone know where id get one of these bots.....??

I dont think you can just download or buy the things... Best bet learn programing and make one yourself... Or join a chat site and get chummy with someone using an mIRC/Bot they tend to know alot about programing and write there own mIRC script's/make bot's for chat sites so could probly make one for you or help you out...

writing something like that is no picnic scotty, i doubt the best bet would be to 'learn programming and write one yourself' haha.
i wrote a program once to take football comments from eurosports homepage and translate them from english to swedish. arsenal vs. tottenham spurs yielded very good results, point is, it was terribly difficult and time consuming

I know, It's not easy I used to fart about with alot of coding and stuff when I was about 14, 15... Would be stumped if you put one page of the stuff infront of me now tho... But it can be learnt and there are programs that make it easy for beginers.. i.e. Visual Basic... But yeah Rock you are probly best getting someone else to do it for you...

it would be pretty simple to write a simple auto-bump bot with Perl and the HTTP wrapper classes (I forget the real name!). I did something similar for a phpBB forum aaages ago. It wouldn't take much to write a web frontend for it and set it up as a public service on a web server.

I'd imagine its against the forum rules to have automated posts though.

yeh it probably is.... but i wont need it for here... im on here all the time anyway...... thinking more along the lines of using it for DOA or DNBA.....

Ah ok. Well the DOA grid & boards look like a modified vBulletin forum, as does DNBA, so it wouldn't be hard to build a bot to work on both (y)

Ive kept a couple of them hostage in the recycle bin. they can be easily retrained to meet your needs, much like mail order bride.

    $50 each.
