The man, the legend, the enigma and quite possibly the single most influential UK electronica artist in living memory… we are hugely proud at Bloc to present to you the inimitable Aphex Twin, performing his special AV show for our fifth birthday.

From twisting early rave sounds into mad, mind-melting forms like ‘Analogue Bubblebath’ and ‘Digeridoo’ in the very early 90′s through the unparalleled electronic bliss of his ‘Selected Ambient Works’, then into the growling fury of ‘Come To Daddy’ ending up with the disorientating beauty of ‘Windowlicker’, Aphex Twin’s discography is as vast and expansive as any other producer on the planet.

Unpredictable, inspired, irreverent and frighteningly talented, Aphex’s all-too-infrequent sets generally cover the full spectrum of rave and beyond so expect another acid jungle techno noisecore rollercoaster from the most unique talent of the post acid house era.

Check the Bloc website for a host more lineup additions over the coming weeks...

Magnetic Man announced as headliners alongside Aphex Twin!

Chart-topping dubstep futurists Magnetic Man will be topping the bill for Bloc 2011 in a double headline spectacular with the legendary Aphex Twin.

The Croydon sound of dubstep has come a long way since we first invited Skream to smash Bloc apart back in 2008. Every time it’s developed, evolved and mutated these guys have been right there at the laser-sharp, cutting edge – and have become superstars along the way. Skream, Benga and their mentor Artwork are a hell of a big noise for Bloc – this will be the first time we have hosted their mesmerizing live show – and what a perfect fifth birthday headline show for our Bloc family.

As we start to get increasingly excited about next years festival, we have uploaded a whole load of old Bloc sets to tide you over the cold winter months in the run up to Bloc 2011.

Head over to the Bloc Weekend site to have a listen, or alternatively head over to the mixcloud!

Some of the many delights on offer include Rusko’s debut live set from 09, Amon Tobin’s surround sound DJ set from ’08 and Phuture 303’s mindblowing ’08 set.

Now that we are into 2011, the countdown to Bloc really starts. So in that spirit, we start off the year with one of the many stellar sets from last year’s festival to keep you going through the first week back at work!

Adam Beyer – Bloc10 set

Drumcode boss Adam Beyer has been Sweden’s top techno export for the best part of two decades and has collaborated with fellow big guns like Speedy J, Mathew Jonson, Tiga and Marco Carola over the years. His Drumcode label has been thwacking out the most supremely funky and rhythmically heavy techno tunes for 13 years now and his DJ sets are renowned for their depth and uniformly dancefloor smashing capabilities.

Beyer owns the chunky funky techno sound and his set at Bloc 2010 proves that in full.

Adam Beyer – Bloc10 Set

Grab this and a whole host more sets over at the Bloc Weekend site.

OVERKILL BLOC 2011 MIX

You can also check a Q+A with Overkill main man N>E>D who put together the mix over on the Hyponik site here.

Check this exclusive stream of a new Venetian Snares track from Bloc 2011 via Hyponik!

*Venetian Snares Exclusive*

The track, imaginatively titled ‘There Now You Have Syphilis’, spills out the speakers in an acid-drenched onslaught of typically manic polyrhtyhms and overt drum programming, settling into its own incongruous groove around the halfway mark.

Having recently launched his own Timesig label with new album ‘My So Called Life’, Aaron Funk is set to perform at the Overkill stage at this year’s Bloc festival, alongside DJ Funk, King Midas Sound, Daedelus, Carsten Nicolai and Jimmy Edgar, providing what will undoubtedly be a full on soundtrack of the very fines electronics and bass.

You can also read a nice interview with Kevin Martin, AKA The Bug and one third of King Midas Sound, over at the Bloc Weekend website…
