Planning my trip from the US to the UK for NYE. I always went to NYE at the NEC in Birmingham but they are splitting that party up and not having it at the NEC. The party below looks great but is there going to be something as good in London? It is much easier for me to go ATL to London than to Birmingham plus I will have to be in London on Dec 27th for True Playz night at Fabric! Thanks for any suggestions!
Thanks but not an option. If I simply must go more than 30 mins outside of London for a massive DnB party then it will be Birmingham for sure.
We have a winner. LOL @ some of those massive UK lineups, you know 30-40% of those artists won't show up as NYE is a giant cluster-fuck every year with every big name booked at about 4 different venues, never making every gig. Even if they all did show up, what would they play 20 mins each? Australia always has some crazy NYE lineups, can't really fault the Brits for ditching the UK during xmas to go down to the beach lol
This is another case when less is more The last thing I'd want to listen to on NYE is hour after hour of jump up
Can you give me more details? I am about to come 4,000 miles so I want to get f'ed and I would rather not go to Birm. And listen gang, I understand you guys are jaded as hell with DnB massives. We don't get those kind of parties with all of the kings of DnB over here unless you count WMC in Miami in March each year or Prog. house/Trance massives in LA or NYC or Detroit. I also understand DJs soow late (happened at the NEC NYE party last year) and some no shows but even if half of the lineup shows it would make the long trip worth it. ---------- Post added at 14:39 ---------- Previous post was at 14:35 ---------- 30-40% sounds a little high as the big boys don't get paid if they don't show. Late yes, some no shows yes, but we are talking NYE massives worthy of you or I going to the UK to see. You guys are getting the same type of shows we get. Yes, DJ Hype once in a while, Andy C once in a while, etc. but you are not getting even half the line up of the top 3-4 parties in the UK on NYE anytime during the year. ---------- Post added at 14:41 ---------- Previous post was at 14:39 ---------- Again, more info. What are you doing on NYE then? I understand some people want to avoid the massive but I gave you my reasons. Its the top night in the world capital of DnB - the UK. For us foreigners its reason enough to spend a ton of dollars to see. ---------- Post added at 14:45 ---------- Previous post was at 14:41 ---------- This looks like a fine party, and I have seen him in the US many many times but I need a line up that makes you go - "oh-crap, we don't get that in the US ever, I need to get my ass to the UK. " So far for London "TOGETHER AS ONE NYE 2010 @ FIRE, VAUXHALL, LONDON" looks like the #1 contender.....
Torque lineup looks big, sure that will be heavy. Gonna be in Leeds i think though, otherwise would definitely consider it
lol good ol' split bookings init. Or maybe they will play an early set in Australia and fly backwards in time to make a late 5-6am set in the UK. They could then fly back forward through time across the international date line to make NYE in Los Angeles!
Its all about 1nation at the o2 academy this year!!!! Havent got any links cause im on my mobile but its a nice forward thinking line up in the main room followed by local south coast talent in the second room! Plus im playing there this year
Here is what I found for that party. One Nation New Years Eve Friday 31st December 2010 o2 Academy Bournemouth 8pm-5am all night ARENA ONE – MAIN AUDITORIUM DJ HYPE – Midnight Set FRESH BROOKES BROTHERS LOADSTAR feat. XAMPLE & LOMAX SIGMA DC BREAKS FABIO SUB ZERO WHITEY MCs: EKSMAN, IC3, FATS, MC AD, HARRY SHOTTA, FELON, SKYDRO ARENA TWO KLIP TIMMY G PENFOLD DANO HANNIBAL FOCAL POINT KRONIC ALPHA MCs: UNKNOWN, BAKER, HUSTLE, LYRICAL D TICKETS £20.00 direct (No B/F) up til 3rd December £25.00 (No B/F) direct thereafter £25.00 + Booking fee from all other outlets at all times ------------------------- So, the good compared to Innovation NYE: DJ Hype Midnight set is big. and the bad: No Shabba and a lot less heavy weights....and the worst - 5am closing???? Way too soon. Innovation still wins unless someone has something else to put up against it.
Reasons why I thought inno was not that great? Main room was too busy to enjoy, and generally an "undesirable" crowd if im honest. Wasnt any problems or anything that I saw and clearly it depends on you but there seemed to be a lot of 18ish lads and not a lot of women. Sets had the MCs so fucking loud it was ridiculous. Pretty expensive (this is a given for anywhere admitedly, but you may as well pay for something good). Thats IMO; I would also agree with posts earlier in that you shouldnt neccesarily be swayed by seeing so many names, you will probably end up seeing less than a third of them due to 2 rooms, people not showing up etc.
Looks like the best party in London for a DnB head is going to be one of the two; In this corner: Either One Nation/Raveology: http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg149/RAVEOLOGYCREW/nye10/nye10inside.jpg Or.... in this corner Innovation: http://www.direct-recordings.com/inno/NYE_Poster_600.gif Help me pick people. I need hard facts. Thanks!
