Fruity slicer is easiest to chop beats up with. You can do it so cubase cuts up the break for you into its individual hits, forgotten how though. or wavelab

Renoise - the program that is bare sick for chopping up breaks and rearranging them, it's really easy too.
Have a look on youtube if you are stuck.

just do it on the audio lanes. its the most accurate way of doing it imo.
if you like laying down one shots, and create rhythms and patterns using a midi drumpad or keyboard, then record it on midi, and then replace every midi note for each corresponding drum sample. Open them in the audio lanes, and chop/trim away.!
