DnB Best Selling DNB Track?

Well @Dagz I didn't infer there'd be figures for exact number of sales for Original Nuttah etc, nor do I actually know. Just an uneducated guess.

and btw released sometime in the 2nd half of 94 not 95, surely you'll have heard an older hit more often than a newer hit because of it being old. o_O

not sure about this but apparently RIAA says 1500 streams = 1 sale. seems a bit high? That data is only for albums though, couldnt find any for singles.

Which makes it even more mental that Bryan Adam's (Everything I Do) I Do It For You stayed #1 for FOUR months. Still holds the record to this day.
its also one of the dullest pieces of shite ever released, don't know how such a boring song managed that achievement. chesney hawks ftw

I would say Original Nuttah. Released in 1995 so over the 21 years of its release I cant begin to tell you how many times i have heard it get play. This would absolutely make me put it in the category of best selling dnb track of all time. Its an iconic track and I've always seen it as a track that represents drum & bass/Jungle and lets not forget it was out at a time alot fewer tracks were being released.

Id imagine all of the people on here own Original Nuttah or have streamed it at some point but I wonder how many of you have done that with Hot Right Now

I think you've lost sight of the definition of a 'sale'. This isn't a most popular underground dnb tune of all time topic — it's what is the 'best selling dnb track?'. Original Nuttah peaked at #39 on the UK chart and probably didn't chart anywhere else in the world. Yes it got plays but no, not one of those times you heard it out were considered a sale, sorry mate.

it has to be afterglow? all blue by sigma and hometown glory rmx were top best selling of all time on dnbarena. also barcelona was in the charts ages ago and maybe lk

Regarding the new pop releases, yeah they have had fuck loads of sales but only been out a few years, think the older tracks probably have more sales because they have been out for longer, not saying every dnb track but the popular ones

I'm not 100% that's just my 2p

Bro it's just common sense.

A track that was released 21 years ago, One of the first dnb tracks to enter the charts. Probably one of the most repressed vinyls of all time. Ok I cant do sales figures but do the maths 21 years I bet your fucking Nan knows about Original Nuttah.

Popular = sales
piece.

If you are taking vinyl it's a jungle track, if you are including downloads CDs etc it's some godawful new fangled shite, probably that that fresh had to make because he was just too big a talent to carry on making good stuff

In terms numbers its gunna be these new tunes, probably that Fresh thing. Tunes from the 90s that you can hold in your hand, I'd say M-Beat - Incredible, but even that wasn't putting up the numbers of rave tunes, Prodigy, SL2 - On A Ragga Tip, Smart E's, Trip To Trumpton were massive sellers, didn't break a million units sold though, probably half a mil at best

I've read about a Shut Up & Dance tune from 1992, "Raving I'm Raving", which would've gone on to become the biggest selling hardcore tune if the guy they sampled heavily Marc Cohn didn't take an issue with it. It reached nr 2 then production of the release ceased, meaning it pretty much disappeared from the charts the following week or two.

Did anything similar happen with a jungle and/or dnb tune? Probably no where near enough sales as one of the popular rave tunes though, just curious

Not to that level but Moving Shadow was forced to stop pressing this

I see where you guys are coming from, but back then nobody had the luxury of buying an mp3 for £1 on the internet. Most people didn't have the internet to even learn about the tune. Yes you can say it was popular but when it had to be bought on vinyl or a CD alongside other tunes, I highly doubt it sold anywhere near as much as a modern pop dnb tune.

jmzmaloney's list up there shows it can't have sold even 128,000 copies because it doesn't even figure on the list.
