I'm getting bored of Logic's built in plugins, particularly the sound "enhancement" ones such as distortion, overdrive, guitar amp and such...

what does everyone use? what does everyone recommend? cos they all say its "blah blah blah its lies in the FX chain" but i feel now my productions have surpassed Logic's in the box capabilities and i feel limited with the standard plug ins....

I've heard a lot about Camalphat, Sausage Phattener, Bass Growl... are these worth it and what else is there?

    I'm limited to AU's only...

Check out D16 Group, they've got some sick analog emulator plugins.

Also, I'd recommend waiting till next month before buying any plugins as theres loads of 50% offers on around xmas.

I just picked up Fabfilter Saturn. It's simply brilliant. Aesthetically pleasing, easy to navigate interface with an amazing tone. Can be used for subtle warmth to absolute filth. Ohmicide is good too...but admittedly, it has been gathering dust as I've completely fallen for Saturn.

To each their own, so I'd suggest demoing them both to see which one has the flavor you're after.

    Cheers.

Audio Damage-Kombinat is a weapon. Fantastic analogue character, absolute filth.

I vouch for wow also. Nice easy filter giving subtle movement to massive wobble.

Agreed! I just picked it up during their 50% Halloween sale...outstanding stuff. Even just a bit of subtle tweaking can really add some "crisp" to the sound, especially on a bass bus.

    Cheers.
