Best place to buy a laptop?

    As title says..

    Anyone know of any cheap websites they can recommend? Or ways I can get one discounted by saying i'm a student or anything like that?

    ebuyer's pretty good, got mine from there for a decent price. not sure about student discounts but it's worth a look...

    i recently went into pc world ended up getting a compaq cq57 for £220 when it was up for £300. Prob old stock, laptop isn't top notch but ok for my needs. Go in store and speak to them.

    lol no, trust me...i know how they operate, soon ill be one of them. Any advice they offer will be solely in their best interest, not yours. Plus you can ALWAYS get a better deal online.

    what sorta thing you lookin for muzza?

    currys are ok....depends on what you want it for,.....me for example....i only use my laptop for storing tracks and using the web so i got a cheap £400 job which does the job......if its for production i'd get a better one of course....

    PC world is convenience shopping, you pay a premium for being able to buy there and then from a selection of meh brands - only really use PCworld when something like my monitor/keyboard/mouse... dies and I kinda need it right now. for schedualed upgrade or something wearing out, ie I can wait upto 5days: ebuyer,yoyo-tech, overclockers ... whoever has what I want and the price I can accept

    As for laptops... if you really want to pay the convenience tax sure walk into PCWorld/Currys/Comet otherwise I would recommend http://laptopsdirect.co.uk acer are a good brand for a general purpose home laptop
