found this pretty interesting, checked some of the demos of those packs and those drum dog layered drums look pretty decent tbh.

what are your go-to-packs for one shots? vengeance? bhk? goldbaby? or one of those?

i usually end up using snares from breaks most of the time, layered with some 909 or a vengeance hit (dont like those that much so try to avoid nowerdays..)

opinions?

lol i dunno man but when it comes to longer snares its all about charachter so you want the wood or the steel to come out, otherwise a kick and some distorted something will become a great click snare

Lately i find myself using mostly hits from breaks and hits from hip hop sample packs.

I use a lot of vengeance kicks, they're pretty decent.. the snares are pretty dogshit on their own, but I find them useful if you want to add a bit of splash to a good snare you've found elsewhere.

I like a lot of loopmaster's packs: pure drum & bass, soundbwoy killah, untold dubstep producer, etc.. all quality packs. I only use the one hit samples from these packs, but they also have lots of quality loops that someone could no doubt make use from too.

Also I use a lot of one shots from packs I've found on freesound.org.. http://www.freesound.org/people/crispydinner/ << that guy for example. he's a bit of a legend when it comes to making one shots.

His samples are actually arranged into packs available for download :P

here's a convenient .rar of 4 of them i grabbed, organised by me into kicks/snares folders.

repped! legendary :) - me loves some new snares :>

Some good sounds from that fella... hate having to browse on a website tho. Grim

toooo fucking true. good site but browsing on there is just next level..

I actually use a ton of the drums from the kits that ship with Logic, especially ones under the "Single Drums" category of the EXS24. Other then that I use some sampled 909 & 808 kits a d/l from some where ages ago and demo packs from all over the place.

Danny Byrd and Friction/Icicle sample packs, with vengeance kicks etc, just layer it with breaks and Voila!

My main source is usually breaks but i have been drawing from this hip hop snare pack that someone put together its pretty awesome, i cant remember where i got it from but it was free. It also has kicks and some rimshots aswell

share it mang! :D

I've been making a lot of drums using sculpture or the ES2 tbh then bouncing down to audio ... layering ... applying dynamics processing ect then gated reverb.

What I don't like about a lot of sample packs is that a lot of the hits are layered with high hats.

Check out the sample packs that come with the cds in computer music and future music magazines. There are some hidden gems in there.

6/7/8/909 usually make it into my tunes, apart from that I use a combination of hits, i've got 8 favorite snares that all layer up nicely together to give a wide range of sounds, and 3 kicks which i love and probly over use, but fuk it, theyr fat.
