To add, I recently picked up the Loxy/Resound Sample Pack and discovered that the collection of snares they've included are pure gold. Extremely clean, unprocessed and ready to be layered up to create a punch heavy enough to knock your Mum out.

Sadly yes. For every 25 hits I listen to, one is usable. I've had the best luck skimming through the "Essential House" series. For the most part, the majority of the hits sound overprocessed/normalized/distorted.
